Augemented Reality Test in Unity + Vuforia
I have been playing with ARToolkit about 8 years ago but with Vuforia and Unity it has become even easier. This test renders the building in real-time using a smartphone. For the test I used Nexus 4 which has far from a good camera but it was still good enough for pretty stable tracking.
Light baking in Unity does not work wery well. Unwrapping is also very buggy and the GI is not very realistic in my opinion. I decided to do the unwrapping 3d objects in 3ds Max and do all baking with VRay to get more realistic lighting.
Latest version of Unity does not work well with Vuforia so I have downloaded
Unity 5.3.1f1. For some reason it required 32bit version. To install 32bit version of Unity it is necessary to install first Unity Editor 32bit, and then start Unity download assistant and uncheck downloading the editor.
This is only the first test and the next one should be much better. Building was created by architect Bude Paripovic (my father).
I am looking forward to playing with the same thing using Microsoft HoloLens.
